As you can see from the title, I am a fan of the SuperStart preteen curriculum.  I really like the fact that it was written/edited by those who regularly communicate to preteens. Big plus!  Also, rather than compiling a long list of contributing authors, the authors are consistent.  Great job!  The video segments are cool.  Large group is creative and relevant to preteens.  Challenging small group questions.  Topics are age appropriate.   Biblically based material.  Activities are fun and creative.  They aren’t too childish, which is what you mostly get in the preteen curriculum world.  Overall, the authors do an excellent job of creating preteen lessons.

Another component I like is that it is preteen exclusive.  It isn’t a part of a curriculum that goes from early childhood to upper elementary, which is a road that many publishers travel.  Group Publishing’s Grapple was initially preteen exclusive.  But then Group released Junior High Grapple, which I think was a bad idea.  Why is it important to be preteen exclusive?  Preteens are unique and a curriculum designed for them should stand alone.  It takes a unique group of writers to produce great preteen lessons.

I create my own curriculum for our preteen ministry.  PreteenMinistry.net provides creative resources for preteen ministry.  One of our resources are various preteen series.  But if I were to buy and implement one in the marketplace, it would be SuperStart preteen curriculum.  Great job guys!
