The journey, not the destination, is the goal.  I spend a lot of time pursuing goals set for myself.  I want preteens to grow closer to God.  I want to reach more preteens in our community.  I want to lose 10 pounds. You get the picture.  Problem is that once I accomplish the goal, I set another one. And another one and so on.  I forget to enjoy the journey.  Really, isn’t life meant to be enjoyed?  Should’t we savor each day and enjoy what God has put in front of us today?  How can you enjoy today more?

Get out of your routine and do something different today.  A few weeks ago, I did just that.  I am blessed to work at a church two blocks for the beach.  So, I decided to take my laptop to the beach and get some work done.  It was mid day so I found some shade under a small cliff.  I planted myself in the sand.  I got some work done as the waves were singing a song as they hit the shore.  My creative juices were flowing and I was having fun. Much better than sitting in the office!  The work I got done was second to the experience of sitting on the beach on a sunny afternoon.

You might not have the same environment as me.  That’s okay.  Small changes can make a big difference.  What can you do to enjoy today more?  Remember to enjoy the journey!
