How do you create an engaging worship experience for preteens?
One of the most common questions I often get asked is…
How do you create an engaging worship experience for preteens?
Here are some of the issues that come up with preteen ministry worship:
- “The 5th/6th grade boys are in the back of the room, totally not participating. In fact, they’re a big distraction!”
- “We’re a small group and a band or DVD worship just isn’t an option.”
- “I can’t find any worship music that our preteens like.”
- “We have limited space in our preteen room, which makes doing worship difficult.”
- “We combine all elementary aged kids together, and the older kids don’t participate at all. They just roll their eyes and give us weird looks.”
In episode 2 of the “Ask Nick” podcast, we give you some proven ways to engage preteens in the worship experience.

In this episode Rob Quinn joins me (Nick). Rob’s had a lot of success with something called “Worship Stations” in his preteen ministry.
He shares the philosophy behind worship stations, why they’re effective with preteens, and gives a specific example of a worship station that you can implement in your own ministry.
In this episode we mentioned a blog post Rob wrote on our website that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to create these 4 worship stations: God’s Facebook, Give It All to Him, God’a Family Tree and Fill In the Gaps.
Here’s the link to that blog post…
