I’ve been working together with some pretty awesome preteen leaders lately.  We’ve formed a group called FourFiveSix, which is dedicated to helping your preteen ministry take the next step.  Launching a website, FourFiveSix.org,  is our first means of helping.

Our goal is first to develop community of preteen leaders.  We all need it, but seldom have it.  Those of us who exclusively lead 4th-6th graders often feel much like the preteens we lead.  We don’t quite click with typical children’s leaders nor youth leaders.  Some of you feel that way and some not.  Either way, we all need a place to connect with like minded people.  On FourFiveSix.org, we’ve created a Facebook Page and will soon launch regular Skype meetings in an effort to connect with each other.  We also are compiling a list of preteen ministries, so there is a central place for everyone to be known.  If you haven’t added yours, what are you waiting for?  I will also note that since moving here to Southern California, I have connected with a local group of preteen leaders who meet over lunch once a month.  This group combined with my new FourFiveSix friends has life changing for me.  One thing that might happen as you interact with leaders on FourFiveSix.org, is that you might meet some local leaders in your area that may become good friends.

FourFiveSix is also a resource.  We’ve put to words a basic philosophy of preteen ministry that we call, Letting Go of the Bike.  If you haven’t read it, go ahead and click on the link now.   I think you will find it a helpful way to put into words what it means to lead preteens.  We’ve got a lot on the drawing board here including developing a list of recommended resources and a place for everyone to submit a resource (game, lesson, etc) to share with everyone.  It is really exciting to be a part of something so cool like this!

FourFiveSix also provides weekly updates in the form of a blog.  Our team blogs at least a week (sometimes more) about preteen ministry.  We don’t consider ourselves experts, but simply want to share with the world our journey leading preteens.  I like the idea of blogging as a team.  We all share the same basic philosophy of preteen ministry, but express it in various ways.  So, I think the blog will be really unique in that way.

We’re only just getting started.  It is going to be an exciting ride!  I invite you to take full advantage of all the great stuff FourFiveSix has to offer now and in the future!
