Katie Gerber created a leadership group, called Fusion, for preteens at Mount Pleasant Church. She knew preteens could take on a leadership role within her preteen ministry, Mount 54.  And she knew that equipping preteens to lead would help them own their relationship with Jesus. How did she do it? What lessons did she learn? How does equipping and releasing preteens to lead affect their faith in God? How does she train adult leaders to walk alongside of preteens without overpowering them? What specific roles do preteens take on? Katie shares all that and more!

Katie also gives an example of how the Fusion group organized, executed and led an event for younger kids!

Download the Fusion application. Get an idea of what she requires preteens to go through when entering the group. P.S. – A 6th grader created the application…awesome!

Preteens want to lead. When given the opportunity, their leadership skills flourish. They experience the thrill of using their gifts to serve God. And they grow closer to God in the process! It’s one way that us leaders can let go of the bike.

I would to hear all about this. We are looking at starting a leadership group for our PT. We have a lot of kids who attend both our services and think this may be a great oppurtunity to use one service for those kids to grow and become leaders.

Any ideas and info would be great.
