Inspirational Story About Sarah, a 5th Grader
I asked Clint May, President of CDM International, to share a story about a preteen changing the world. Here’s the story of Sarah, a 5th grader who went through the Leadership in Training program.
God always amazes me with preteens. One year we did a mission trip in San Marcus, Texas. We had a rough trip. Many of our kids came down with a virus. Because of the sickness a lot of our preteens were forced out of their comfort zones. Sarah was in the fifth grade at the time and she was called to teach one day. I remember her sharing that she was scared to death. She cried out to God to help her teach and she shared later, “I don’t remember a word I said, but God spoke through me in a powerful way.” Sarah experienced the power of the Holy Spirit in her life. She had one young lady that day respond to the Gospel and was able to lead her to Christ. When Sarah returned home she realized that she needed to do the same thing in her neighborhood. She went out the following week and canvassed her neighborhood. She invited the kids to a city park where she lead them in a five day Bible study. That week four of the children she was working with came to know Christ as their Savior. Sarah didn’t stop there. She felt a calling to teach Sunday school and began asking God for an open door. The next day our Sunday school director called her and asked her to teach. Sarah was amazed how quickly God answered her prayer. She taught for two years with second graders at our church.
When preteens are given a chance to lead it is amazing what God will do in their lives!
If you’re looking for a leadership program for preteens that equips them for ministry, then be sure to check out the Leaders in Training program that Sarah went through. Good stuff!

It is good stuff! Sarah’s love of God is awesome! We glorify a heavenly Father especially when we reach out to him. In Sarah’s first trembling moments she was shown the way in how and what to speak, as we’re never alone with faith in God. Sarah’s faith strengthened her resolve, even teaching Sunday school, in reflecting and glorifying such love of God that is available to everyone. Indeed, a leader of the highest calling; God bless you Sarah.
