Friday night we hosted a super fun preteen event called Nick at Night.  I did a similar event a few years ago with completely different competitions, so that is why I call it ROUND 2.  If you are a PreteenMinistry.net member, you can download the first one on the events page.  Friday night was a huge hit, so I thought it would be a good idea to share it with you.  We broke down the night into three events.

First was Fear Factor.  I bought the nastiest stuff I could find at the grocery store, including: clam juice, pig grinds, spam, sardines, etc.  Mixed it up and got volunteers from the audience who had the guts to eat it.  Winners won a prize.

Second event was a pie in the face contest.  Preteens got in a circle and played shuffle your buns, which is a circle game with chairs.  Have one player stand in the middle of the circle with one chair empty.  The player to the right of the empty chair sits in it.  Next player does the same, continuing from one player to the next.  The person in the middle has one minute to sit in the open chair as it moves around the circle.  If successful, the player who gave up the chair and one other player of his choice gets a pie in the face.  If unsuccessful, the player in the middle and one other player of his choice gets a pie in their face.  It’s was rad and easily adapted to all size groups, big or small.  The more players you have, the more players get chosen to get a pie in their face.

Third event was slime time live.  Preteens got in small groups and watched funny YouTube videos that were selected beforehand.  Funny stuff like a cat riding on a fan and being thrown against the wall, monkey farting on another monkey and a 2 year old falling in a kiddie pool accidentally.  Right before something unusual happens the video is paused and groups have to guess what happens next.  If correct, one person from their team is slimed and the team is awarded 1 million points.  I had about 8 videos in the que.  We got through about 3 or 4 when I realized everyone just wanted to get slimed.  So, we did a free for all slime fest.  Poured slime on everyone and let them all go wild.  They all got soaked in slime and slid around the room the rest of the night.  It was chaos, but controlled chaos.

Looking for a good summer event?  Nick at Night should be high on your list.  Have fun!
