Parenting tweens can be tough. I know, because I am the parent of a tween and have been leading a preteen ministry for over 12 years.

Parenting tweens is difficult because they are in transition.
Tweens, 9-12 year olds, are in transition from childhood to adolescence. They are no longer a child nor are they a teenager.  They experience massive amounts of change in every area of their lives: physically, socially, mentally and emotionally. Click here to learn more about these changes. Tweens have a tough time processing these changes.  So do parents.

Parents are often confused.
Due to the massive amounts of change that tweens experience, parents are often confused. They ask themselves questions like:

Why is my 11 year old so moody?
Do I let my 12 year old on facebook?
My 10 year old girl is physically developing quicker than her peers, what do I do?

Those are just a few questions parents ask themselves.  There are tons more.  Bottom line is parenting tweens can be overwhelming and confusing.

As if I didn’t have enough on my plate, I recently launched a new website: ParentingTweensOnline.com.  The website is currently in blog form, with plans to eventually develop other types of tools.

Today, May 26, 2011, we’re live online and are excited to regularly blog about parenting tweens.  We’ve got a lot to say too!  So, help get the word out for us!  Tell the parents of the parents you lead all about us!
