Promotion Ideas

Are you crazy busy planning summer like me?  You probably are.  One of the trickiest things to do is transitioning preteens into middle school/junior high ministry.  If you have a healthy preteen ministry, the last thing you want to happen is preteens to fall through the cracks in the transition process.

Here’s what we are doing this year.  First of all, we promote at the beginning of the summer – June 20th.  We’ll have an event for just the incoming 6th graders a couple of weeks before the promotion date.  We will do something fun and simple like Laser Tag.  I’ll be there with the middle school pastor and other leaders.  Also, two Sundays prior to promotion weekend we will have the middle school pastor (and other middle school leaders) come in and talk to incoming 6th graders.  We’ll do the same for Wednesday night.  That way, they get to know the leaders some before being promoted.

What we do might not work for you.  It does for us.  The idea is to do something.  Keep it on your radar and make it a priority.  Work together with your middle school pastor to work out something that fits your situation.
