Speaking

Rob QuinnHello, I am Rob Quinn and I currently serve as the Preteen Ministry Coordinator, a volunteer position, at my church in Michigan. I have been involved in preteen ministry for over 7 years now. I started as a small group leader for our 5th grade boys and I was immediately hooked. When my wife became the fulltime Children’s Ministry Director and decided to start a preteen ministry we didn’t know then the amazing things God had in store for the ministry.

Rob Quinn_speakingI am a blog writer for Preteenministry.net and I also write and develop fun and relevant games for the website. These games are developed and written with preteens and junior high students in mind. We try to cover topics that preteens are and will be facing everyday.

Currently I also host a podcast for MinistryToYouth.com where we discuss topics that affect all age groups in some way.

I work for Nick Diliberto as the Content Coordinator for all three of Nick’s websites. I manage the writers and editors and content for these sites.

Here are some of the awesome things we are doing in our preteen ministry:

Five years ago we broke our preteens off from our normal VBS and designed something just for them. We put together an outreach inspired week just for them. We begin each day with lesson and game designed for preteens to learn how to walk with the Lord through serving. Then we take them out into the community doing service projects, food can drives, and other various projects to learn how awesome it is to serve the Lord through serving others.

We know how hard it is to get preteens to sing. So we decided to teach them what worship is really about. We have dedicated 3-4 weeks every year to walk them through what worship is. Showing them that singing is only one way we can worship Him. We end each series with a time for our preteens to experience worship in other ways by setting up different worship stations for them.

We believe preteens are looking to build lasting relationships, and we know those relationships can be life changing. So we have started meeting monthly to just hang out and connect. We have seen our leaders and preteens become closer and most importantly they have become closer with each other. This has also become our primary outreach for our ministry because it is easy to invite friends to.

Recently we decided to start a preteen leadership team. We wanted to give our preteens a way to start becoming the future servants and leaders of the church. We meet monthly and dive deeper into a bible study just for them. We also begin to give them responsibility, by letting them serve in the church. Preteens are ready to serve, but we need to teach them why and where they are gifted to serve.

Rob Quinn_FunI believe that preteens are one of the most exciting and fun age groups to work with in ministry. I love being able to help guide them in their relationship with Jesusby walking along side of them and helping them answer the tough questions they have about their faith.
